Tron (TRX) is a Layer 1 blockchain that supports smart contracts, decentralized applications (dApps), and now functions primarily as a major network for stablecoin payments. Justin Sun founded Tron in 2017 through the Singapore-based Tron Foundation; TRX launched as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum before migrating to its own mainnet on May 31, 2018. Although Tron's original pitch was a decentralized platform for content creators to bypass middlemen, its dominant use case today is settling stablecoin transfers, particularly USDT.
Tron uses Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus, in which TRX holders vote for 27 "Super Representatives" who validate transactions and produce blocks. The network is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine through the Tron Virtual Machine (TVM), letting developers deploy smart contracts and DeFi applications such as JustLend and SunSwap. Tron acquired the file-sharing service BitTorrent in 2018 and reorganized as a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) in December 2021.
TRX has no fixed maximum supply; new tokens are issued to validators, with a portion of network fees burned to offset inflation. As of late June 2026, TRX had a circulating supply of approximately 95 billion tokens and a market cap of about $30 billion, ranking #8 among cryptocurrencies, according to CoinGecko. Tron carries a large share of global USDT transfers, and TRX is used to pay network fees, stake for governance, and vote for Super Representatives.
The TRX/USD exchange rate is driven by supply and demand across global cryptocurrency markets. Key factors include trading volume, market liquidity, macroeconomic events, regulatory news, and overall investor sentiment. Since crypto markets operate 24/7, the TRX to USD rate can shift at any moment based on real-time market activity.
On ChangeHero, the TRX to USD price is updated in real time. We continuously aggregate data from leading exchanges and liquidity providers to ensure you always see the most accurate and up-to-date Tron rate.
Cryptocurrency markets never close — they operate around the clock, 365 days a year. The TRX price reacts instantly to global trading activity, news events, whale transactions, and shifts in market sentiment. This constant activity means the Tron price can fluctuate within seconds.
The market price of TRX is a reference value based on aggregated data from multiple exchanges. The exchange rate is the actual price at which you can buy or sell Tron in a specific transaction — it may include network fees and a small service margin. On ChangeHero, we minimize this difference by sourcing rates from multiple providers to offer you the most competitive TRX/USD rate.
ChangeHero automatically compares TRX to USD rates across multiple trusted liquidity providers and exchanges in real time. Our system selects the best available rate for your transaction, so you always get the most value when exchanging Tron — with no extra effort on your part.
Each exchange has its own order book, liquidity pool, and user base, which leads to slight price variations for Tron. Differences in trading volume, geographic demand, and withdrawal fees all contribute to these discrepancies. ChangeHero solves this by aggregating rates from multiple providers, ensuring you get the best TRX/USD rate without having to compare exchanges yourself.
