Did you know that in addition to crypto-to-crypto swaps, ChangeHero also lets you purchase Bitcoin and other popular cryptocurrencies with many fiat currencies? We’d hope the answer is yes but even if you didn’t, we are ready and willing to explain how it works and share a few important updates along the way.

What is On-ramp?

Fiat-to-crypto on-ramp, written or otherwise mentioned together or as one or the other, is by definition a solution that helps you get into crypto with fiat currency. On ramp and off ramp in crypto is an umbrella term meaning different solutions, from a fiat-crypto exchange to a fiat-crypto-fiat gateway. The gist is, any service that helps you buy cryptocurrencies is an on-ramp, and off-ramp describes a service for selling or cashing out.

With all that said, ChangeHero offers a fiat-to-crypto on-ramp for a wide range of users worldwide. The core service is crypto-to-crypto but with integrations powered by our partners, we also enable buying and selling crypto assets with bank cards and other payment methods.

How On-Ramp Works on ChangeHero

The ChangeHero crypto on-ramp is best described as a fiat-to-crypto gateway: a service that helps you make a purchase of crypto assets with a payment method of your choice. Unlike an exchange, it does not require you to make a deposit to trade and withdraw to receive the purchase, which is in line with the non-custodial flow of crypto-to-crypto exchanges made with ChangeHero.

Starting is very easy: you can do it as soon as you open the website at the very top of the Home page in the calculator. Switch the calculator to ‘Buy’ mode and check the available currency pairs with live rates.

If you are satisfied with the initial choices or would like to see more to adjust them, click the BUY button.

This will take you to the order creation page, where you will see more information about the rates and fees; will still be able to change the currency pair and amounts; and will get to choose the payment method and compare provider offers available for the chosen settings.

On the same page, you will be asked for the recipient address and additional tags or memos, if applicable, and addresses for a rare case when a refund is necessary. After reading the relevant terms and conditions, if it’s your first purchase, and accepting them, which you would need to acknowledge every time, you will finally proceed to making the purchase with the chosen partner provider.

After it’s complete, your funds will be transferred to the address you specified when creating the order directly to the wallet. Thus, you won’t need to withdraw them and pay an extra fee, and will have full control and custody over the funds. If it already sounds like a good deal, wait until we break down more upsides to choosing ChangeHero.

Perks and Benefits of Fiat-to-Crypto Conversion on ChangeHero

Why should you go for this method and our offer in particular instead of using an exchange? On top of the things mentioned above, such as being able to on- and off-ramp directly with your wallet, there are a few more reasons.

KYC Thresholds

If you value privacy and security of your personal information, KYC is understandably not something you would like to deal with very often, especially when it comes to a small purchase. Well, you’re in luck here because our partner crypto onramps understand your issue with it and offer purchases with no KYC up to a certain amount.

How much should you expect to be able to buy like this? With FinchPay, starting from the minimal threshold of 30 EUR, the range in which your fiat-to-crypto purchase may be completed without identity verification goes up to 500 EUR. Notice that we do not claim it is guaranteed to go without KYC because the gateways reserve the opportunity to request identification even within these limits.

Also note that Mercuryo uses a Fast Track mode for verification-free purchases. If your purchases are between the minimal amount of 25 EUR and 699 EUR, if eligible, you can be prompted to pick the Fast Track option. This mode has an increased dynamic fee (2% on average) but will let you skip identification.

Variety of Payment Methods

Bank cards are a given for almost all crypto on-ramps but, admittedly, they are not usually the most economical method. Sometimes you wish you could use that one local payment channel that works better for you. And once again, our solution with a few providers rolled up into one, delivers on this front.

In addition to popular APMs such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Revolut Pay (provided by Mercuryo), users from Brazil, Indonesia and Mexico are in luck.

  • 🇧🇷Brazilian users can make purchases with PIX (both Mercuryo and Finchpay) and Picpay (Finchpay);
  • 🇲🇽Mexican users can buy crypto with Spei or Oxxo with Finchpay;
  • 🇮🇩In Indonesia, the following payment methods are supported by both providers: Bri Va, Dana and Ovo. If you wish to use QRIS, BNI or Shopeepay, you can buy cryptocurrencies from Mercuryo. Finchpay also accepts payments made with Mandiri.

Where Can You Buy Crypto From with ChangeHero’s Solution?

Geographical availability can also make or break the fiat-crypto gateway, and having several providers further complicates things. We suggest you check this section to have a better idea of whether you would be able to use at least one of the providers which power ChangeHero's onramp solution.
