Kazakhstan’s National Bank To Test BNB Chain For CBDC
Author: Catherine

National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) reportedly cooperated with Binance executives to introduce BNB Chain into the pilot program of “digital tenge”, a Kazakh CBDC project. The pilot phase is due to be completed by the end of 2022, with the final ruling on the feasibility of the project.

Changpeng Zhao announced the advancement in cooperation with NBK on Twitter. His posts suggest that the subject of a meeting with government officials implied discussing the interoperability of assets and infrastructures. Should this plan come to fruition, digital tenge will be represented in some way or form in the BNB ecosystem.

Before that, Binance received a permanent digital asset service and custody license to operate in Kazakhstan in October 2022. Prior to licensing, both parties signed a memorandum of understanding. As a result, Binance was involved in the digital tenge project as a registered representative of the crypto industry.
